My brother - Michael Richard Hamer, aka Dick Hamer
My brother Dick obviously shares the same ancestors. Dick attended Lewis Boys Grammar in Pengam and attended Leeds College of Music. He now teaches music but also runs his own instrument sales and repair business. There's a link to his website in the tabs at the left hand side of the page.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT
1948 - In the year in which I was born Britain was recovering from World War 2.
Also in 1948 The NHS started operating - meaning free health care for the first time.
In June the ship Empire Windrush had brought the first group of several hundred black immigrants to Tilbury near London from the Caribbean countries. This would be the start of multiculturalism in Britain.
The 1948 Summer Olympics took place in London these were the first Summer Olympics since the 1936 Games in Berlin.
SPORTING LINKS (One of the medals won in 1948 was a Silver in the mens 4 X 100m relay containing John (Jack) Archer who would later be one of my PE lecturers at St Paul’s College, Cheltenham where I trained to become a teacher.
